The margarita. Does your mind slip into a warm beach somewhere with your toes in the sand and drink in hand; or how about a summertime get-together with this cool, refreshing sipper?

Whatever the occasion, it certainly calls for this tequila cocktail, we’re sure of it.

Let’s dive into a quick back story of where the margarita originated from shall we; then we’ll investigate and break down how to make the best margarita!

History of The Margarita Cocktail

Where did the margarita cocktail come from?

Well, there are two “said” possible origins. Whatever the exact history behind this mixed drink is; tried and true, this cocktail is and has been a staple for quite some time.

Origin #1

Danny Herrera

Claimed to be created in 1938 by a man named Carlos “Danny” Herrera at his restaurant called Rancho La Gloria near Tijuana.

This cocktail was designed for a bar patron named Marjorie King. King was allergic to all spirits except for tequila. Danny willingly crafted the margarita specifically for her. It won her heart over as well as the majority of America!

Origin #2

A wealthy Dallas socialite named Margarita Sames claimed that she crafted the margarita cocktail in 1948. It was told that she hosted a gathering for her friends and whipped up the margarita as we know it today for her guests to enjoy.

Known to be composed one of two ways: on the rocks which means over ice or frozen which means blended with ice to give the drink a slush effect.

However this cocktail is enjoyed; the best margarita begins with great tequila and freshly squeezed lime juice (don’t skimp on these ingredients).

We will be showing you how to make your cocktail on the rocks.
